Animal Crossing: New Horizons - The Ultimate Guide to Your Island Paradise
Animal Crossing[a] is a social simulation video game series developed and published by Nintendo. The series was conceptualized and created by Katsuya Eguchi and Hisashi Nogami.[1][2][3][4][5] In Animal Crossing, the player character is a human who lives in a village inhabited by various anthropomorphic animals and can do various activities like fishing, insect catching, and fossil hunting. The series is notable for its open-ended gameplay and use of the video game console's internal clock and calendar to simulate real passage of time.

In the Animal Crossing games, the player assumes the role of a human character who moves into a rural village populated with anthropomorphic animals and lives there indefinitely. Gameplay is open-ended: players have no defined objectives but are instead encouraged to spend their time in the village performing any number of activities which include collecting items, planting plants, insect catching, fishing, and socializing with the village's residents. Animal Crossing games are played in real-time, utilizing the video game console's internal clock and calendar. Thus, the passage of time in the game world reflects that in reality, as well as the current season and time of day. Some in-game events, such as holidays or the growth of a tree, occur at certain times or require some duration of time to have passed.[7]
Collecting items is a major facet of Animal Crossing: the player can explore the village and gather objects, including fruit from trees, seashells, and discarded items. Nearly all objects can be sold for Bells, the in-game currency. Players collect objects to obtain more Bells, which can then be used to buy furniture and clothing, purchase home expansions, and play games. Many of specialized tools are available for other activities such as fishing and insect collecting. Special items, such as fossils and paintings, may be donated to the village museum. The player can choose to socialize with the other animal residents by engaging in conversation, sending and receiving letters, bartering, or playing hide-and-seek. Residents may move in or out of the village depending on the player's actions.
The 2008 Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl features elements from Wild World. Most prominent is a stage based on the animal village, called "Smashville", which changes its scenery in accordance with the Wii system clock[64] and features a number of songs remixed or extracted from the original game.[65] Mr. Resetti and a pitfall seed, which appear in all Animal Crossing games, are available as an Assist Trophy and an item respectively.[66][67] Brawl also features 24 collectible trophies based on Animal Crossing characters and items.[68]
Just as in Doubutsu no Mori, players assume the role of a human setting out for a life of their own in a town of anthropomorphic animals. Each town is randomly generated, ensuring that no two players' experiences are identical. Gameplay within each village is open-ended, allowing players to engage in a variety of activities that suit their playstyle. Players can pick fruit, grow trees, garden, hunt for fossils and fish, catch bugs, do favors for the villagers, or decorate their homes.
Being vegan means not only not eating animals but also not wearing them. Avoiding products made with fur, leather, wool, down, or cashmere and opting instead for clothing made with vegan materials like cotton, microfiber, hemp, nylon, and polyester prevents animals from being slaughtered for fashion. In addition, wearing vegan is much better for the environment.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can buy fun animal-friendly items like pleather shorts and pleather sneakers. Even in the fictional world of this game, sentencing animals to a lifetime of suffering before killing and skinning them, just to wear their skin, fur, or feathers, is so not cool!
The next Animal Crossing will likely see a whole new generation of players alongside its long-standing community. If the rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 are true, Nintendo could be waiting on the console's release before it announces another Animal Crossing game. The franchise is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and adorable animals, though certain mechanics in the game make the existence of some of these villagers quite confusing.
Since the series began, fans have noticed that there are many things in Animal Crossing that don't make sense. For example, there is only one human in the entire game, unless you go to a friend's island or have a co-op island, whereas everyone else is an animal. This concept is never really explained, but some have theorized that the players might be part of the last remaining humans in the world.
If that wasn't enough puzzling information, insects in the Animal Crossing universe appear to be just insects, though Nintendo has not explained why that is. There's a large roster of bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons but it doesn't appear that any of them have personalities or greater intelligence. Some have made the hypothesis that sentient animal Villagers evolved from what used to be normal animals, with one Reddit user u/Prestigious_Cold_756 writing that in the museum's fossil section "there's this 'path of evolution' on the ground that connects all fossils" wherein if the player follows this path they will find a "glass wall that depicts silhouettes of some of the villager's species, with the final spot being empty..."
Friendship is a core pillar of the series and building relationships with the animals that come to your island is genuinely enjoyable because their animations are better than ever and the writing feels sharper and funnier too.
What is ACNH? You start the game by agreeing to move to a deserted island being developed by a somewhat shady raccoon named Tom Nook. Tom is big on upselling. He will always convince you to borrow more money in order to buy and build bigger and better things for your new island home. Through the course of the game, you gradually develop the island into your own paradise, all while making friends with talking animals.
Construction Projects include engineering, design, permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and other activities related to the construction of infrastructure improvements, such as the building of a wildlife crossing overpass or underpass.
In addition to human characters, Animal Crossing features lots of animals, including birds, squirrels, and mice. But what if the entire cast consisted entirely of cats? That's the idea that Cat Forest plays around with, much like a cat plays with its prey.
New details have emerged of Animal Crossing: Wild World, the DS version of the hit Gamecube and N64 title that sees you taking of the role of a cute animal, living in a cute town and doing cute things.
